Artist's Comments

This is a lost wax ring. My mother studied in Berkley to learn this technic back in the late 60's. This is one of the results. ;p There is an ounce of oldworked gold in there. The stone looks like amber at first glance, but when you are holding it you feel the weight of a rock. ;p It measures one and a half inches from tip to tip, with the stone at three quarters of an inch long. When Mom wore the ring it would make the most beautiful noise, it seemed she could make it sing. I hope you enjoy looking at this little piece of history. :)

It's very expressive. The silver and the stone seem to mould into one another......

Thank-you! Mom loved nature and you could see it in everything she did. I'm just glad I could get that picture, it took me forever to decide on that one! LOL!

Ohh wow! :heart: I watched sort of a documentary not too long ago on the wax jewelrymaking... it was fascinating! And such beautiful pieces can come of it ^^

The stone is amazing... it looks so raw, and the gold... :D It looks like something a forest fairy would wear.

Not calling your mother a forest fairy or anything... umm... O_o;

^^; Anyway. Amazing ring... and a big kudos for using a technique so old! I think it's underappreciated.

She was quite an amazing Lady! One of her end of semester Fashion Shows had a fantasy theme for costumes. It was a blast decorating the lunch room for a FS, Mom always had a way to make you feel like somebody important up on that walkway of lunchroom tables! :D

Oh, what a fantastic story... your Mom has quite an aura because when you said "sing" I felt I could hear it over hear... miles away. I love when people can become one with their jewelry... they just complete the work-

I personally think we should take all the world leaders, put them in a bull-pit and let them fight to the death. Then the rest of us can go party.

A man who steals bread is desperate; a man who steals art is pond-scum.
